Home signal (also called a homeball). The upper signal head indicates what the train should do like an automatic signal (proceed, proceed and expect the next signal to be red, or stop and stay as indicated by the text color). The lower signal tells the train what route it will be taking on the switching track just ahead (stay straight, take diverging route, or stop and stay as indicated by the text color, the latter only shows when the top signal is red). This signal is located at the northern end of the 96th Street/Broadway IRT station.
